Printer Freindly Printing

I have several tables on line in multiple colors that look nice, however when
people try to print them with a black and white laser printer (standard) all
the colors disappear and all you have is the table and text. I then made a
link to a "printer friendly" version with grey colors, but the same thing
happened - no colors.
What I'd like to do is make a separate table, but use the same shading that
MS word uses (ie 20%, 25% etc). When I do a table in word it prints fine.
Any suggestions. Thanks/

Thanks. What I want is to create an second "printer friendly" page that
would contain shades of grey instead of colors. That way anyone could print
it without chainging their IE settings. Instead of specifying a "background
color" in a html table, can you specify a shade that will print (ie 20% like
MS word)?

You would have to create images for the shading, then use absolute
positioning to move the text over the images. IMO a lot of effort and
grief (since the absolutely positioned text is bound to "move around"
with different printer settings until you get it right) for little
return.

User must still change their setting in IE in order to print background colors and images, which
also applies to tables/cells backgrounds and colors.

It works fine once I changed that setting. Is this new in IE 7 as I don't
recall having to do that before. I guess I'll have to include a note to users
telling them to make that change before printing.

On a secont note, is there anyway to include a "print" botton that would
print a page without the IE header and footer.

Thanks. You've helped a lot with this issue.

This is not new to IE 7, applied to prior verisons as well.

This is a individual users browser setting.

Thanks. Last Q - where do you change the page heaading and footer printing
option? In IE 7, I couldn't fidn it in advanced, printing.

It's under File | Page Setup Headers & Footers
