Printer Error/Can not print

My win2000 is set to receive auto windows update at 3am daily. I woke up
this today to find my system had rebooted and a message that "recent update
" had been installed. Then I got this meaage "The exception unknown software
exception (oxc06d007e) occured at location 0x7c59bc3f." And this flashes
intermittently.

Since then I can not print to any of the printers installed on my system. I
checked my printers window and they have all disappeared. When I click on
add printer icon I get an error message that says printer sub system could
not be started... then something about spooler.exe could not be started.

Any one know what I need to do to fix this problem? I would appreciate any
help

Much thanks in advance.

Joe

You might be advised to set auto update to download and notify, and not auto
install - gives you a semblence of control.
In Control Panel > Administrative Tools, check event viewer for err msg, in
Services check printer spool service

Checked event viewer... lots of entries that says "The Printer spooler
terminated unexpectedly." The source is said to be disk. Does this hint any
thing?

Yes I am able to restart print spooler... but when I open printers
windows... no printer shows in the list and when I click "Add Printer" I get
this error "Printer subsystem could not be started... Not enough resources"

I restart the computer and then the process repeats

I have no clue what to do next

Check the folder \winnt\system32\spool\printer if it contains any files
delete them and reboot
Then check Services that the printer spools service has started and set to
automatic
Now check Printers

Thanks DL... I deleted every thing in that folder (c:
\winnt\system32\spool\printer ) ... restarted printer spool service...
rebooted... still not working

At this point I'm left, like you, with google :(
You could try the system file checker, see win help, it wont do any harm and
'may' help

I will... thanks for your time and help..
