My apologies for asking a W2K Pro question here but I could not find a forum
for this and I see a few questions close to this one here. Also the service
properties I reference below is identical to the properties I have on my XP
Pro workstation's.
I've tried all afternoon to get a W2K Pro, sp4 workstation to load the HP
4100 driver for a printer I've just put on our network but each time it gets
to the end of the wizard, the progress bar goes all the way across indicating
copying of files and then I get the error message "Printer driver was not
loaded. Access denied." It does this regardless of where I get the driver -
HP or Microsoft. I have to hit Windows Update to get the 4100 to show up in
the wizard's list of drivers. The one other W2K Pro workstation in the room
loaded the driver just fine.
One KB article suggested going to the spooler's properties in Services and
make sure on the Log On tab has "Log on as local system account and Interact
with Desktop" checkbox are chosen and checked and then to stop and start the
service. I tried this but it did nothing.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks, Dana.
