Printer delay in XP

I have a small Quick Basic 4.5 program that ran perfectly in a Win 98 DOS
window. When I try to run it in an XP command window, the program runs fine.
However, there is a delay of exactly 30 seconds before the printout will
start. Is there a timer function somewhere that can be reset? A 1 or 2
second timeout would be acceptable.

Thanks in advance for any help

This is a tipical problem of Windows XP. In former
versions ME, 98 95 are option to print inmediately from
MS-DOS
If somebody knows a solution I apreciate it if he informs
me.
