Printer / CPU usage

My CPU usage is at 100% and makes the computer runs really slow. At the same
time my HP 7660 printer is no longer in my print folder. I have unistalled,
but it won't let me reinstall. It does not recognize the printer via Plug and
Play.

Is there an uninstall utility on HP's website for your printer? If so,
download and run it.

Then reboot. Look at HP's site and download a new set of driver software
for your printer, Run the install package and do NOT connect the printer to
the PC until the software tells you to do so.

I went to HP's website and followed the uninstall and reinstall. Windows is
still not detecting my printer. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I also tried using a different cable to connect the printer and it sitll
didn't work. I also uninstalled the USB ports and controllers - still my
printer is not detected.
Not sure what to do next.

PS - the CPU usage seems to be improved, it's not running at 100% all the
time.

At this point, check with a friend's PC that the printer can be installed on
their PC.... it might have died and gone to printer heaven. Do other USB
devices work correctly?

Thanks, I was thinking of trying that. I just did and the other computer
didn't recognize the printer either. Time to find a new one. Thanks for you
help.
