printer and scanner wont wrk w/ XP

Just got XP along with new motherboard, our scanner and
printer won't install, i downloaded "xp drivers" stuff,
do i need to use the installation disks or just stuff off
the website, cant get it to work.

Hi,
You did't say which printer! I have the HP PSC500 and you
can't use the disk to install. It fouls the whole system
up. I had to let XP find it and install it itself. Works
great now!

If you would like a meaningful reply, please be more specific. What
make/model of printer and scanner would be very helpful.

Look up the specific devices in the XP HCL (Hardware Compat.List)
on the M$ site. Lots of old widgets are not supported.
