for some reason my Epson Photo R800 printer will not power on at all.
I was going to install the new ink I got and no power. for some reason
I even turned on my scanner and it doesn't power on...I even changed
outlets and no power to either. Also yesterday when my dad was
printing on a pritable cd it printed fine and then all lights were
blinking. then a few mins later after trying to get it to go off
pressing the power button, I noticed it went off when I got home to
try and fix it. I thought it was fixed if it went off, but it won't
power up. I am out of ideas on what to do. I contacted epson earlier
tonight via email and also canon about the scanner. not sure what
happend. Hope someone can shed some light on this.

First of all forgive me if I suggest things that you have already tried.
Are you sure the electrical outlets are working, try plugging in a known
working appliance. There may be a fuse blown or a circuit breaker tripped. Are
you using a power distribution board, if so remove it and plug the units
directly into the wall. Power boards can fail.
If that's not the problem and both the printer and scanner failed at about the
same time then there may have been some sort of power surge in your
neighbourhood. Was there a thunder storm or similar at about that time? It is
very unlikely that both units would fail at the same time without external
influences like a power surge or brown out.
Some household insurance policies in some countries provide limited cover for
damage due to power disturbances and if yours does you should ask the insurance
company what the story is. Also you may have a claim against the power company
if there was a general power surge and it was not caused by something outside
of their control.
Essentially if the power supplies in the printer and scanner are damaged it
normally means replacement of the units because of the cost of replacing power
supplies.
Other than that I have no more advice. Good luck.

If both are on USB connects, you may need to reset the cables/plug, try
another USB port, etc. It is possible the UART for the USB port
failed, or if you are using a hub, I suggest trying without it, and see
if that resolves things.

Are other USB peripherals working?

Many USB peripherals require a certain level of current from the USB
port to activate the full power flow.

I connected my digital camera via usb and it works just fine...also as
I mentioned before, I plugged it into other power outlets...also had
usb disconnected from both scanner and printer
