Hi,
I have an HP OfficeJet 635 printer which is set to print in black
and white/greyscale. Colour cartridges are out of my price range.

When I print from certain web pages, some of the coloured text
prints very light, and is difficult to read. Black text prints very
well.

Is there any freeware that will allow web pages with coloured text
to be printed as black text from IE5? My OS is Win95 OSR2.

Thanks,

Joe

Save the webpages to your hd and change the code yourself.

If you use Proxomitron, you may be able to write some filters to try to
greyscale or B/W the rendered page. I don't know how viable the idea is,
since colours might be specified in a number of different ways (name,
RGB...) and it would need some degree of numerical range comparison to
select the substitute colour. I'm too much of a novice with Prox to
propose any further I'm afraid.

Have a look at Bookmarklets. You can get a bookmarklet which sits in your
favorites to change the text colour to whatever you want, another one to
change the background colour, another one to remove background graphics. I
use them when sites are unreadable in their original form.
