Is there ANY way to turnoff Word 2002 perpetual pagination? The book on the bottom is constantly writing and causes the screens to scroll awkwardly and slows down movement between pages of the document. I cannot work in the Normal View which doesn't do this, because my document has tables, charts, graphs and the Normal View distorts how the document really looks

Please help. This is a major annoyance and poor feature of Word. I cannot find anywhere how to turn this aspect off.

I don't know that this is the case, but I have found that if you have tables
in either the Header or the Footer, this will cause the problem you are
seeing. Do You?

Yes, I have a Table in the header. I found on MVP where it explains my 0 of 15 problem. BUT I work in technical manuals, and really need a table in my header to lay out the titles, sections, etc. Are you saying that the same problem that causes the 0 page numbers (i.e. header table, floating picture anchored in the table, page number) is causing the perpetual pagination?

If yes, then what other suggestions are there to achieve an outlined header without using a table?

Yes, this will cause the constant repagination which slows down your ability
to scroll your document. as far as using something else, depends on the
type of table you have. If you only have 1-column tables with shading and
borders, you can get that by formatting your paragraphs. If you want, send
me a sample of what your table looks like (maybe just a few pages) and I
will and figure out an alternative.
