print two pages on one - freeware?

Hello, I need some freeware addon that allows to print two pages on one
page, side by side. Please suggest some freeware program. Thank you.
 
Many modern printers have this setting available - to print 2 (or more)
pages per sheet. It should be under printer properties.

I'm asking for one that doesn't have this option.
 
I have not read what has been suggested so this may not be a new idea. I
did a Google for _2UP_ printing and found this:

I have installed it here and it seems to do the job you are asking for.

These print only txr files, I need some generalised solution that will
print two pages of any type on one page - like PDF or something like that.

Not to flame you, but Google on _2up_ printing and try the many
offerings for yourself.

For photos you might look at "easy print." One, two or four JPG photos
on same side of paper.

I have seen many PDF printing offerings as well.
