Hi.

Can anyone tell me what format is of the file that's created by choosing the
'Print to File' option in the print options? It has no extension and I've
tried opening it in all the Office apps with no success.

Thanks

Matt

Matt:

The output file created when you check the print to file check box in the
Print dialog is actually the machine language and printer commands that are
transmitted to the printer when a file is printed. Its not meant to be
opened in an application. Normally it is either some variant of PCL (HP's
printer control language) or post script.

What type of output are looking for when you try to output a file? If you
need an rtf file, then choose File -> Export rather than print.

Steve,

I am indded trying to get some sort of viewable file. So thanks, that should
be a great help!

Cheers

Matt

If you print to a postscript printer, the format can usually be set to whats
called an EPS file. Certain vestor based drawing programs like CorelDraw
and Adobe PageMaker can read these files.
