I am trying to print a lengthy table in design view. If I
use print screen, it only prints what is visible not what
is beyond the scroll bars. I have tried to select all and
cut and paste but it won't let me paste to any printable
format.
Thanks,
Catherine,
I take it you want an actual picture of the Table design, not
necessarily it's properties.
If you're willing to do a bit of cutting and pasting it can be done.
As a test, I just did a Ctrl + Print Screen of the upper portion of a
long table design.
Then open MSPaint.
(Start + Programs + Accessories)
I then pasted it into a new Paint window.
I then increased the Attribute Length (Image + Attribute) to about
double what it was.
Went back to Access and showed the bottom portion of the table design on
the screen.
Ctrl + Print Screen again.
Back to my still open Paint window. Pasted the new screen onto the old.
Without clicking off the screen, drag the just pasted second picture
downward, keeping the left sides aligned, until it's just past the
bottom of the first picture. Click off the screen to set the second
picture.
You'll then need to remove the portion of the picture where they
overlap, (and the repeated tool bars). Use the rectangle select tool
button (top right tool button) and drag a rectangle around the unwanted
part. Cut the portion.
Then using that same rectangle select button, select the entire bottom
portion of the picture and slide it up until it fits. Because the Table
Design view has lots of lines, use a line as a source of reference.
Now select Image + Attributes, and remove the extra space from the right
and bottom of the combined pictures. A bit of trial and error will soon
let you come close to how many pixels you need to remove (or you can set
the View + Zoom to Large Size, then again to 'Show Grid' and literally
just count how many units to decrease the picture size to what you need.
Print the resulting picture.
Or if you need to reduce the picture size to get it to fit onto a single
sheet of paper, copy and paste it into Excel or any other program that
will adjust the size to the page.
My test, in total time, took less than the time I spent writing this
post. I realize I've done similar types of cutting and pasting into
Paint before, but even with some mistakes and starting again, it could
still be done within 15 to 20 minutes.
Have fun.
