I believe I had this same problem a couple weeks ago,
although it wasn't tied to installing Microsoft Office. I
resolved the problem by deleting the printer and
reinstalling the printer driver. I'm not sure if this
will help you with your problem, but its worth a shot.

hello,Error Message: Spoolsv.exe Has Generated Errors and Will
Be Closed by Windows

SYMPTOMS
If you open the Printers window or attempt to print from
any program, you may receive one of the following error
messages:

Spoolsv.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows.
or
Printer operation cannot continue due to lack of
resources.
or
Subsystem unavailable.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if a printer driver that is installed
on the computer is damaged.

I did what the document said to do although there was
nothing to delete in my registry. I cannot add a printer,
nor do any plug and play printers (HP4L) auto-detect on
startup like it used to. I tried installing SP4 and all
recommended and critical updates, but nothing is fixed. I
am running 2kpro sp4 on a fairly typical Pent3 500 with
over 320 mb of ram. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Please email me with any fix at (e-mail address removed)

Print Subsys Not Available

Hi, my name is Jim, from Fort Worth, Texas.
Regarding "PRINT SUBSYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE."
I've just spent at least the past five hours,
what with the same error or; "PRINTER SPOOLER
HAS BEEN TURNED OFF." This was taking place
whenever I tried to load the user CD for my
Lexmark 2350 scanner/etc. This all happened,
immediately after I had to reload my Windows
2000 Pro OS. Well, after at least four hours
pure frustration, "SOMETHING HIT ME!!!!!" Well,
after I in fact reinstalled the Windows 2000
updates I had previously saved, It sure enough
fixed the problem, at least for me, and I was
then able to load my user CD and my Lexmark
scanner now back on line. I sure hope this
helps.

Oh, one more thing..... If you are using a
printer to be connected to the "serial port?"
Ie: LPT1? Well, be sure to check in your
device manager, confirm that said port has in
fact been established.

Please feel free to email me at:

spooler not loading

I found in both windows 98 and 2000 that subsystem not loading errors could be resolved simply by setting performance options to background services

Hope it solves someones problem

Clay

Have been unable to restart spooler without it shutting down again and again. Cannot delete printer icons when visable after restart.

To JeanCillers...'setting performance options to background services'...

How is this accomplished if it solves the problem of 'print subsystem not available' and the continual 'Spoolsv.exe Has Generated Errors' messages?
