Print Subsystem is unavailable

For some reason I can't print anyhting from my PC
anymore. Whenever I try to add a printer it says the
print subsystem is unavailable. Does anyone know how I
can fix this?

I'm having the same problem. I've tried EVERY "fix" I've been able to
find online : restarting the service, deleting drivers, editing the
registry - everything! I'm still stuck with the same error.

I uninstalled SP4 and the printers started showing up again and the
spoolsv.exe worked perfectly. Installing SP4 again caused the problems
to come back again. Right now I'm running SP3 without a single hitch.
