Print Spooling

My OS is Windows XP, my printer is an HP Laserjet 1100A, my computer has 512
MB of memory, there is gigabytes of unused space on my hard drive, and my
CPU is running at 1.8 GHZ.

My printer always works just fine except when I try to print to both sides.
When I change my printer preferences to print both sides, a never-ending
spooling activity occurs. This is true even for a short 5 page document. I
have waited as long as 30 minutes, and when I click on the printer icon, it
tells me that it is still spooling, but shows 0% progress.

I have only tried printing to both sides with PDF documents, so I'm not sure
if the same thing would happen with, for example, a multiple page Word
document.

Any suggestions are most welcome.

I just tried it with a 3 page Word document (text only), and after 10
minutes of spooling the first page - still no printing.

I think so, although I'm not 100% sure. As you probably know, this is a
fairly old HP printer, and I don't think HP is providing any new drivers.
Last year, when I acquired the printer, I downloaded the latest driver they
had available. However, I'll check again, and thanks.

Cari, you were correct. I just downloaded the latest driver and that solved
the problem. I was convinced that I had the latest driver. I was wrong. You
MVP are the greatest! Thanks.
