Print Spooler Unattached

I tried adding a printer and received a message no print spooler running. I
previously had a printer installed and all work fine. I had some problems
with my computer crashing. Later in a boot it ran a bunch of audits and
restored several files. Later I did a defarg. Next time I attempted to
print, it failed and no printer was installed.

I do not know how to get the print spoolers installed, running or what.

Update: I found print spoolers under control panel\system adminstrative
tools. The spooler was listed as stopped. I started the spooler. Still
same problem. When I attempt to add a printer, I get a message "operation
could not be complete. The print spooler service is not running."

In the knowledgebase article
"Operation Could Not Be Completed" Error Message When You Use the Add
Printer Wizard
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314876/en-us
MS writes, that the startup type for the printer spooler has to be
"automatic".

Hope this helps.
