Print Speed

Hi all

I have just acquired an Epson Stylus Photo 1290. Excellent results.

But a question - I have printed a couple of images in which the printed
area is 28cm x 35cm. The whole area is covered with ink.

The time they took to print was 20 minutes each!!!! This seems excessive
and should be, I think, about 3 mins each.

Is there any way to speed up the print speed? They were printed at 1440dpi
setting with High Speed turned off! I understand the latter results in
better quality. It certainly is excellent.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated and a Merry Christmas to all.

Well, speed is traded off against quality. You want one, you have to sacrifice
the other...

Yes, the obvious. Try turning high speed on. If you get banding turn it
back off. Also, you don't say what medium you're printing on. I've hardly
ever seen a degradation on my 1270 with high speed on and am trying the
same with my new R800.

Don't know where you're expectation of 3 min comes from. But for this size
I doubt it, though I really don't pay too much attention this.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll try it with High Speed switched on -
although, like you I am not particularly fussed about it.

BTW I got the speed from the spec: 0.3ppm for photo A4
