PRINT SHARING BWT WIN XP AND 98

I have a Win 98 desktop connected to a router with an
network cable and a Win xp notebook connected to the
router via a wireless connection. The wireless connection
is excellent and I can share files between the computers
ok, but I cannot share the printers. The printers are hard
wire connected to the Win 98 Desktop. Is this possible to
do? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jim,

Hey, I'm trying to configure my network to be just like
the one you described (Win 98 desktop physically connected
to printer and router, Win XP laptop connected [in my case
via ethernet cable] to router).

I can't even seem to get that far, though. I plugged the
notebook into the router and ran Network Setup Wizard.
But afterwards, I can't "see" the desktop from the
notebook and I can't "see" the notebook from the desktop.
I don't think I succeeded in connecting them. Would you
mind telling me how you added the Win XP notebook to your
network?

Michelle,
I assume that your desktop is receiving the internet ok
thru the router. If so, all you should need to do is just
make sure the "internet connection sharing" box is
checked on both the notebook and desktop. Get there thru
Control Panel, Network & Internet Connections, Network
Connections, right click on the your network icon.
Hope this works.

Run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both computers. Tell it that the
computers connect to the Internet through a residential gateway. It
will automatically enable file and printer sharing and share the
printers.

XP should automatically discover and install Win 98's printer. On Win
98, go to Control Panel | Printers, click Add Printer, and follow the
prompts to install a network printer.
