Sence we have migrated to AD, when we goto add a printer
to a workstation the print service has to be restarted on
the print server. Whats the deal? Is there a patch or
something? any help is GREATLY apperiated.

That is strange. This is definitely not a normal situation. Can you check
EventLogs on your server to see if there are any logs about this problem ?
Can you describe your network configuration and server/client DNS settings ?

I check the eventlog and their is no errors or warning or
anything. We run DNS with AD. The printer service is
running on 1 of our windows 2000 server boxes. has sp4 and
all current hotfixes/patches. We are just a section on
the bci domian. which is for the county. So I cannot
give out settings etc.. security reasons. but we do not
use LMhost. No Wins. Net BIOS over tcp enabled. Once
again the vent log says nothing. this is what really is
puzzeling.

So every time a client connects to your print server, the spooler service
crashes on the server ? Is this true for any printer on your print server
Any particular printer model ??

All other IT departments are having same issue. Whats
really weird.. is we can see evryone elses printers except
ours. and same for all other deparments. they can see ours
except their own. No printer model particular doing
this. Well see we do not know if it is crashing. the
event log says nothing or error or warnings etc.. It just
does not show the OUR printers. But shows everyone
elses. Once the printers are loaded they can be print to
@ anytime. with no problems. Just when we try to add them
to the workstation.

By seeing printers you mean in AD or when you browse your server in Network
neighborhood ? Run dcdiag and netdiag on your servers. Maybe it will yield
interesting results.

I mean when you browse the active directory for printers.
I will run the commands and let you know.
