Print Server Driver Upgrade for Workstation also

I am in need of upgrading the printer drivers for one of my HP printers. This
printer is also deployed on workstations. If I change the printer driver on
the server, it appears to disconnect the printers from the users. Is there a
way to push the print driver updates down.

I can delete the printer manually and re attach but this is not a realistic
approach to go to each user and interrupt them to delete and create a printer.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Are you using AD, and is this installed as a local printer on the server,
shared?

Updating the driver on the server should actually update the driver on the
workstations, then .... how are you doing the driver update, and what are
the exact symptoms on the client?

I'm using active directory. Is a network printer, installed as a local
printer then shared and listed in the directory.
On the server I simply go into the advanced properties of the printer and
switch to a different driver I have in the list.

If I switch it, the client says "Printer not found on Server, unable to
connect". If I switch it back it comes back. I have the same printer with
this other driver and it works fine. So it's not the driver.

Hmm. I'll have to test this myself & see. I am pretty sure I've done driver
upgrades in the past & the workstations have just inherited the changes.
What happens if you reboot a client workstation?
