How do I print screen using the "print screen " key on
the keyboard? I have WINXP. Thanks.

Once you hit the print screen button the picture is copied to memory. Then you have to go to a program like paint and paste it as an image.

Hit the print screen key. Open Notepad or Wordpad and hit paste.
Congratulations, you have just used the print screen key!

Notepad or wordpad is useless for graphics. Rather than notepad or wordpad a
better program would be 'paint'.

Notepad is not just useless, but it's *impossible* to insert graphics
into it.

Wordpad on the other hand works well as a container for graphics
(individual and multiple) when you don't want to do any further editing
and may wish to wrap explanatory text around it.

Paint is a good place to put them if you wish to make changes to the
graphic, or save it into some graphics format, e.g. bmb, jpeg, etc.

In addition, there are many other programs that are capable of handling
graphics.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

While not my program of choice, Wordpad will work for pasting a captured
screen image. Notepad will not.

Pressing the <PrtScn> key copies the entire display to the
clipboard. Pressing <ALT>+<PrtScn> copies only the active Window to
the clipboard (iow, into RAM). To view the screen capture, open a
graphics program, such as MS Paint, and press <CTRL>+V. This will
paste the contents of the clipboard (your screenshot) into the open
file, and allow you to view it or save it as a file for later use.

I like AnalogX's CAPTURE www.analogx.com
Also just tried Mike Lin's CLIPOMATIC for text to the
clipboard, it works with all Windows, CTRL/ALT+V brings up
the expanded clipboard.
