I have tried to print a screen by pressing alt+prtscn but when and try to
paste into MS paint I find that the paste function is greyed out.
Previously I have been able to take a snapshot of the selected screen and
paste it into MS paint but now it will not work.
I have looked at previous posts but cannot see anything to help.
Its funny you think everything is OK until you come to use it then you find
that it isn't.
I am using Microsoft Office 2007 on Windows xp-Home Edition.
I would be grateful to receive any ideas or suggestions.

Try control+V, even if the menu item is not active. That is the Windows
command for "paste".

Also, alt+prtsc and control+prtsc have different functions, one takes the
entire screen, the other only the active window.

Not the answer, but you might want to try this freeware tool. It makes
screen shots a breeze.

Using a Microsoft keyboard with an FLock key at the upper right?
Try pressing it before "Alt+PrtScr."

Many thanks to all those that replied but I must admit to being stupid in
this matter.
My keyboard (Mircrosoft Wireless) has a F lock key and I have found that
print screen will only work when this is switched off.
I am sorry for wasting your time but hope that my confession of stupidity
may assist others in the same position in the future
