Hey i have a question about the print que windows.

we are using a windows 2003 print server, and we are not deleting printed
jobs, so that we can re-print them.

a consequence of that is when you open up a printer, there are tons of jobs
in it.
is there a way to sort this
my preference would be to sort by (logged in) user, then by date
but any sorting options would be helpful.
if we could do this without any extra tools that would be awesome, but if
there are tools that could basically just enhance the printer que view that
would be good to.

Hallo Craig,

it seems the printer que is always sorted by the job id. I did not
found a suitable shell extension which can influence the sorting of
that list.
What you need is a programm that reads the jobs with "EnumJobs"
function and do a "SetJob(..JOB_CONTROL_RESTART..)" from the
programmers point of view.

You can download "splviewer" from my homepage "www.lvbprint.de" which
shows you all print jobs of all local printers. The list can be sorted
by any column, but I don't know, if it can work with "tons of jobs".
The tool handles printing by it's own (to other printers too), and has
a limit to print only documents of max 300 pages. If you need the
Restart-Job-function ,let me know, I will implement it (without any
limits).
An english version of splviewer will be ready in a few month. Meanwhile
there is only a german version available.

my german is not so good :) but in my case i need something that can connect
to network print servers, we would like a tool for the end user to be able
to look at there printer and be able to sort and look at jobs... but only
for them.
we are talking about around 600 printers and probably hundreds of jobs in
each que (that would be keeping only three days worth)
