I installed the critical Microsoft updates for August - August 08, 2006. I
Shutdown the system and then restarted the morning of August 09, 2006. There
were no error messages on startup. IE (current version 6.x) started normally
(with no error messages) - I was able to browse a variety of sites.

When I went to URL:
http://ct.enews.pcmag.com/rd/cts?d=184-3114-14-56-220752-385286-0-0-0-1

and attempted a print preview, IE hung. Task Manager showed IE running at
95-98 % - status 'Not Responding'. I ended the IE task and tried to use the
Print option - same symptoms - 95-98 % - status 'Not Responding'.

Firefox lets me Print Preview and Print. What happened ??

My print preview works just fine on the listed web site. Therefore you will have to search just
what is wrong with your pc.
But it will not be a general problem.

I have tried Print/Print Preview on other sites and did not encounter IE
problems - no hangs and no 95% utilization rates. This function still does
not work on the URL:
http://ct.enews.pcmag.com/rd/cts?d=184-3114-14-56-220752-385286-0-0-0-1

Pending other info, I will print from the 'pcmag' site, using Firefox and
use IE on the sites that don't cause a "Print" problem.

I will test on another system over the next day or two - to eliminate system
specific issues. I will post the results in my original post.

After I updated another system with the August 08, 2006 Microsoft Critical
updates, I tested the Print/Print Preview with the URL in question. These
features worked on the other system - no IE hang - no 95 % utilization.

My system has certain ActiveX and other scripting functions disabled or set
to "Prompt" and I suspect these "more secure settings' may be the cause of
the "new problem" along with the recent updates.

I will test setting changes and post the results in a later post. Basic
concern: I have previously printed from the 'pcmag' sites, but ran into this
problem after the recent Microsoft Critical updates.

6 hours later - no other Windows updates - no system configuration changes
.... and the Print/Print Preview option now works for the URL in question.

( ... shaking head ... )
