Print permission woes...

Hi all,

I have a Windows 2003 PDC, with a Windows 2000 Server with TS running
on it. The 2k server is part of the domain. All local users connect
direct to the PDC, while users at our remote branches connect to the
TS Server. They login with user accounts which exist on the PDC. Now,
the local users can add/remove/manage printers at will, but the remote
users cannot - they get permissions errors every time they try. There
must be a permission somewhere that just says "let these TS users
manage printers", but I can't find it. The only thing that's puzzling
me is that, despite the fact the remote users are pointing to the TS
server, they are still using accounts which exist on the PDC (and have
the same permissions as the local users) - so why are permissions
different?

My understanding of TS is limited, as you cn probably tell, so help
would be appreciated.

TIA,
user0.

You will have to make your remote users members of the Printer
Manager local group on the TS to give them premissions to manage
printers.
I would however hesitate to do this. There's nothing that can
faster bring a TS to a screaming halt than messing around with 3th
party printer drivers.

If the remote users have locally attached printers, these should
automatically be redirected to their TS sessions. If their need to
manage printers comes from the fact that autocreation of
redirected printers doesn't work, you should solve that problem
instead.

Please feel free to follow-up with some more information about
your setup (what kind of printers, where and how are they
connected to the network).
