The print button and print options of the file menu are subdued in open email
messages. In the inbox or other folders a message can be selected and
printed as long as it is not open.

The end user has been using that work around for months and does not
remember if there was a change to her system or software when the symptoms
began.

The PC is running Outlook 2K3, Office 2K, and Windows 2K.

I have rebuilt the Outlook profile.
I have upgraded from Outloook 2K to 2K3.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printers, including the registry
settings for those printers.

I have corrected this problem by deleting and recreating the User Profile.
It's like using a hamer to tighten a screw but it worked.

I tried this method, but still to no avail. It is the only view that the
icon is greyed out, seems to me there should be a configuration location for
it since its the only one out of many ways to print. Still digging here for
an answer!!

I have managed to find a solution to this problem,

Go the users local profile and rename
C:\Documents and Settings\*****\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
*to*
C:\Documents and Settings\*****\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook_ol

and

C:\Documents and Settings\*****\Local Settings\Applicatio
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
*to*
C:\Documents and Settings\*****\Local Settings\Applicatio
Data\Microsoft\Outlook_old

This will fix the printing problem.

I suspect it will do more than that. There are many files in those folders
Outlook needs in order to operate at all.
