I want to print the list of files in a directory. I have
found a couple utilities that allow this, but none of them
are able to list the summary entries that I can add to the
directory.

Can anyone help with this?

This article describes how to add a "print directory" feature for folders
in Windows XP. After you follow the steps in this article, you can
right-click a folder, and then click Print Directory Listing to print a
directory listing of the folder's contents.

I followed these instructions, on the basis of info previously given me
here, and it has been working great! Thanks a lot to all the "info givers"!
So Cappy, from Happy, it works!

Thank you for the help. But I already have the ability to
do this and even export this information. What I am
trying to do is export or print this information but
include with it, the information we have entered into the
document summary.

FYI to see what I mean:

RC a file
Select properties
Select Summary
Fill in title and other fields.
(By the way if you use full text search you can sort on
these fields, including key words.)
Now hit oK
Next got to the directory that contains that file
you should go have remained there after hitting ok
RC on the column header at the top of the directory pain.
Where name and size, type, date are located.

You are given a list of fields to choose.
Add title and category

Now you can see the field added to the directory.

That's what I'm trying to print or export.

But thank you for giving me that other code I rather
enjoyed it, and did not know you could do that.

Hi Norm,

Run "dir> file.txt" at a dos prompt from within the directory of your
choice. This will create a text file of the contents of the folder that you
can open in notepad for printing or saving.

If you wish to add the contents of the subdirectories, run "dir
<drive><folder> /s> file.txt".

If you head to google.com and search on "free directory printer", you will
also find many other useful tools. See also:

And in the future please ask WinME questions in the appropriate group.
Asking in the wrong one can lead to misinformation, as there are some
not-so-subtle differences in the operating systems.
