Start orb>Search box>type: cmd
When cmd appears in Results above, right-click and choose "Run as
administrator". At the command line type:

net stop spooler [enter]

This should clear the jobs. Sometimes you need to actually pull the power
plug from the printer (not just turn it off w/the power button), too. Wait
a minute and then at the command line type:

net start spooler [enter]

Hopefully this will clear the pending jobs for you.

Hit ctrl+shift+escape to get task manager, run explorer.exe from the 'new
task' button on the applications tab.

Is this an example of the brave new world of simplification that Bill
promised with Vista??

and who can remember all those steps except an expert user?????

This is the same exact procedure that is sometimes necessary since
Windows NT. It has nothing to do with Vista.
and who can remember all those steps except an expert user?????

All two of those steps? Anyone who cares can look it up or ask
questions. Whining that the operating system doesn't read your mind and
respond to your whims is childish and nonproductive.

I have the same problem and usually get it fixed by turning off the
computer and the printer after I have deleted the print jobs and open
the printer folder and tinkered around with the printer properties.

From my experience there is no one solution. Just keep plugging away.

You can expect the "hung print document" to print after you get
everything in order. At least mine does.

YMMV

I have used this process since Windows NT 4.0:

Shut down the printer and wait until it's off
Shut down the computer and wait until it's off
Start up the printer and wait until it's fully ready
Start up the PC and check the print queue again

This process almost always works for me.

Thanx for your compassion. Try using same trying to help your 85
year old deaf father over the phone; after the 'simple' canned way
doesn't work a dozen times.

'Nil' is appropriate.

Aha. So now you drag out the phony sob story. You said before "I paused
printer", "i rebooted again" - no mention of deaf fathers. So, which it
is? Not that it matters whether you were lying or not, you're still a
whiner. All computers occasionally do unexpected things. Get used to
it. If you're lucky, you can ask for help and someone will give you
good advice, like they did here. If you continue to whine and don't
even acknowledge the good people who took their time to try to help
you, nobody will bother with you next time.
