Print Driver Problems

I have recently attempted to install the HP 2510 drivers
on my XP Professional os and could only get halfway
through the install process before I received a "fatal
error". After spending 5 hours with HP support who
couldn't figure it out, I returned the product. Now I am
attempting to install an old Canon Multipass L6000 and
keep getting an error that my os is "blocking NT4.0
drivers". Does anybody have a fix to this? Thanks in
advance.

Thanks Mary. Actually, I had started with the Canon site
and downloaded the XP drivers for the L6000 directly from
that site. Then I saved them to my desktop and ran
the .exe file. Everything appeared to work fine with the
installation but when I tried to add the printer, it kept
trying to find a file called "cannonprn.PPD" which I
found on my hardrive. It finishes the setup but then
gives me a message "There was a problem installing this
hardware. An error occured during installation of the
device. The printer driver is not compatible with a
policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0
drivers". Any further help would be greatly appreciated.
