Print Compressed

My printer prints in compressed type in Word and Excel. It show something different in the print preview or se up
It prints fine in Outlook or items copied from the internet? I have contacted manufacturer and Microsoft support and as usual each blame each other. What have I done in the set up to change this?
 
Are you just clicking on the "print" icon on the toolbar in Word/Excel or
are you using File, Print and selecting the correct printer?
