On top of all my previous roblems with XP, now my HP
895cse printer can not be accessed from a word processor,
either direct or from a disk. If I request "print" from
WORD or WORD PERFECT I get a "NO PRINT APPLICATION FILE
ERROR" and the word procesor shuts down with no save
capability. I can print from NOTEPAD and while on line.
The word processor(s) also display the error message if
left unattended for a few minutes. In MS Troubleshooting
I get ('Xmldoc.document/element' is null or not an
object) error message while trying to use the printer
troubleshooting guide. The printer worked just fine a
couple days ago. I did download the latest MS window
fixes prior to these problems (correlation?). I reloaded
XP (AGAIN), the only common denominator, with no change.
I hate XP!!! Any help is appreciated.

For anyone interested! In an effort to find a solution
to the printer application errors I was getting I went to
the HP web site and reavaluated the printer driver. I
reloaded MS WORD. I reloaded XP. This last action
(apparantly) nullified all of the MS patches I had loaded
earlier. I then reloaded three of the XP patches on the
MS site and the printer now works, although not at 100%.
It appears that at least one of the MS security patches,
possibly the latest ones, or/and at least one of the XP
patches I had loaded previoously somehow interfere with
the printer selection and operation. This seems to cause
a PRINTER APPLICATION ERROR, at least with my printer. I
would be interested if anyone else has run into this
problem and possible cures. If this is a software
problem, I hope MS is paying attention and sends out a
cure. Thanks.
