Hi all

every time that I try to print my doc , Word shows a message "Word is
updating the table of contents"

I do not want to upadate the TOC because that messes up the way I
arranged it.

If I click Cancel or click on the window X, Word simply won't print my doc.

How can I print the doc without being forced to update the table of
contents?

..

Put the cursor anywhere in the TOC (which is a field) and press Ctrl+F11.
That locks the field against updates.

If you ever do want to update the field, put the cursor there and press
Ctrl+Shift+F11 to unlock it. Of course, you'll have to redo your changes
after the update.

An alternative to locking is to press Ctrl+Shift+F9 to unlink the TOC field,
which turns the TOC into plain text. After that it won't be a field any
more, so nothing will ever update it. If anything in the document changes,
you'd have to make manual adjustments to the TOC.
