on windows xp, what is
Primary master hard disk fail when I boot up? Is there a
way I can fix that?

Round about now, if I were you, I would be hoping/praying my back-up is up
to date.

Sounds very much like a hard disk failure. TRY - booting from a floppy, and
change from
A:/ prompt to C:\ - if it does, try "dir C:\" (no quotes) If you are unable
to read C:\ then
it's almost certain that your hard drive is busted.
