Prices on the new X1950 in the US?

Hello,

One forum member of a different group suggests that the X1950 will go for
about $430 US AND EURO dollars even though they have totally different
values. That would be fantastic for us in the U.S. of course but somehow I
doubt that it will go for that this year. The first pre purchase price
I've seen is $600 - I realize they tend to mark up the prepurchases a lot
but that seems like a pretty big difference.

Anyone have any MSRP or anything else to indicate a price in the US?

Yes, it's overpriced. Order it from another merchant. There are cheaper ones
around.

For a merchant, there are two ways to go about selling X1950 cards:
1. Stick to ATi's MSRP and have all your stock pre-sold in three hours...
and later see them scalped for $600 on eBay.
2. Price the cards according to supply and demand.

As for the dollar/euro thing, keep in mind ATi has pulled its own-branded
cards out of the European market, leaving it to board partners like
Sapphire, Asus, HIS, etc. These manufacturers are not obligated to follow
ATi's MSRP.

Thanks for the posts. I just saw the info about the new 7950 GT -
Hopefully that will help keep the prices down a bit. It competes more with
the 1900 though.

Thanks - I need a card right away so unfortunately I can't wait long for
prices to settle.

I think after lots of consideration I may get the x1900 XTX for about $360
w/shipping and a Zalman 900 GPU cooler for about $40.

The zalman wouldn't be as necessary with the new x1950 cooler from what I've
read but it costs $100 more just for the slight performance increase - not
really worth it for me.
