I have just come across pricelessware.org and would like to explore
some of its offerings I would like to know if possible whether the
programs included are free from spyware etc

you haven't read the link on the page "About Pricelessware":-

http://www.pricelessware.org/thelist/aboutplw.htm

which says, in part:-

From the start, neither Spyware nor Adware programs have been included
in the list.

Again, no spyware.

To the best of my knowledge, no spyware or adware is included in these
listings. But as the saying goes, "Buyer beware", as you never know
when an author might decided to change his stance and include these
things in his/her software. Which is why it's good to check back in the
newgroup here now and then.
