I just purchased XP Home Upgrade for $99 Canadian from Staples Business
Depot. Two days ago it was $149 Canadian at that store.
Has Microsoft lowered the price?

It sounds like one was an upgrade version and the other was a Full version.
No, the price has not been lowered but may catch a sale now and then.

I've never seen Microsoft (or at least the distributors, since MS doesn't
sell direct to many) lower OS prices significantly. More likely, either the
store had too much stock on hand and decided to clear warehouse space, or
it's just a sale to get you in the door.
