We are migrating 300 users to XP Pro & Office 2003 in the next couple of
months. They are all currently running Win2k with Office XP/2002. Currently
users can log into any machine on the network, open outlook and see their
e-mail without any prompts for configuration. I am building the XP image and
I want to configure it in the same manner. I am using the same PRF file that
is currently on the win2k machines. I am trying to have the registry trigger
outlook 2003 to use the configurations in the PRF file, but it is not
working. I am following the instructions in this article
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011402581033.aspx
It says to delete some reg key values in
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Setup but they do not show up in the
registry. The \Setup part of the hive does not even appear until the first
time outlook is opened.
I can create the ImportPRF string value in the \Setup key and then open up
outlook and it will work under my domain profile, but when I log in as
another user and open outlook you have to manually set it up. I don't want
to manually configure outlook for clients everytime they log into a different
machine. My users are constantly traveling to different remote offices and I
want to avoid getting a thousand tickets to configure outlook everyday.
How can I set it up to work the way it is currently working in the Windows
2000 environment with Outllook XP/2002? I was not the one who originally set
it up, and he is no longer around. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
