"Within the simple yet powerful user interface of Prevx Home reside
multiple layers of dynamic security settings. These enable Prevx Home
to catch and stop new, never before seen attacks at many points where
they may attempt to compromise your machine."

https://www.prevx.com/homeoffice/prevxhome/prevxhome.htm

If you believe the claims for their product, there would no longer be
any need for conventional antivirus and firewall products, and the
Internet will soon be safe forever, provided we all install Prevx -
and it is free for home users! Yippee!

Uh-oh: then we read "An essential complement to existing signature
based Anti Virus and Personal Firewall products, ..."

So what is Prevx? Internet Salvation or Snake Oil?

Probably neither. Behaviour blockers, intrusion detectors, and generic
methods have been around for a very long time. The problem would be to
find decent comparative tests and/or objective analysis on such
products.

So what is Prevx? Internet Salvation or Snake Oil?

Doesn't look like they've changed much (if any) on their website since
this same question was raised a month ago. See
http://groups.google.com/groups?q="...&safe=off&selm=opsb4kisouqz8bjc@nntp&rnum=4--

I have no idea whether or not the product is any good, but the marketing hype
and skimpy technical details sure imply snake oil, to me. Looks like a very good
example of how not to promote a security product.

Works like Spybot S&D in so much that it prompts when changes are made
to registry etc.
