Hi Barb,
With regards to the Defrag. If you are using the Defrag option that
comes with XP then you would still have problems. This because the defrag
that comes with XP does not get rid of the sometimes large gaps between
files. The consequence is that whilst the files are individually contiguous,
the free space becomes less contiguous. You will see an improvement
dependent on exactly how much there is on the target file if you use a
dedicated defragmenter. The one that comes with Symantec Systemworks does
rather a good job, I expect that there are others "out there" as well.
On the what other program front, there is always the significantly more
advanced MovieXone (free version) or the even more advanced MovieDV 6 (US
$69) from
www.aist.de The options in both of these programs require a
steeper learning curve, but the possibilities and end results are well worth
it.
Best Wishes.....John Kelly

I do the harddrive cleanup and the defrag regularly and my computer is
less than a year old (HP 854N). I have tried using MM2 without anything else
running not even my internet conection and the preview window still stays on
one frame in the preview window when ever I try to move the blueline in the
timeline to another place in the timeline. This program seems to have a lot
of cliches. Do you know of some other movie making software that doesn't
have all these problems? I love all MM2 features but it is a PAIN to use
when you get stuck and can't do anything to go on to finish your movie.
