After strugling with this mystery I am finally going to
ask for help.
In Windows 98, Me and 2000 I can see a small preview of a
JPG file (as well as other picture files extensions) in
the left side of the Right Pane in Explorer.
In XP, I am unable to figure out how to enable this
feature. Actually that area on the left of the Right Pane
does not exist in my XP installation. Which leads me to
ask whether this feature exist in XP?
Besides the picture preview, that area, in the earlier
operating systems, will also display a graphic
information of the HD usage.
I would greatly appreciate comments on this mystery.
Thank you.

The left side panel can be set in two ways. You probably have it to display
the folders on your computer. Look at the top bar, there is a yellow Folder
icon. Click on it and the left panel will change to Tasks display. The
picture preview will be at the bottom, you may need to expand your window to
see it.

Thank you Yves,

I got the pictures to show.
The only problem is that I loose the navigational ability
that the left pane had to offer.
Does this mean we cannot have the same setup as in
previous Windows version?
Joe

No, you simply change the Folder view to Tasks view depending on what you
want to do. Easy to change from one to the other, just click to change the
option.
