Hello,

I know there is a way to prevent users from being able to
see the tables, queries and reports in an application.
How do you do this? If I remember correctly, you can
bypass this by holding down the shift key. Otherwise the
user cannot see the data behind the forms. I created an
autoexec macro that opens to a password screen.

Thanks,

Haji

hi,
goto tools>Start up
there are a number of start up options there including
hiding the database window.

Security is rather complex in a multi-user environment. I
strongly recommend reading a good reference on the
subject, such as the Access Developer's Handbook by Getz,
Litwin, et al.

Be careful not to lock yourself out when you use the startup options. I got
years ago a great routine from this newsgroup with runs via a macro and
code. It works well in A97 and in later versions if you make sure that you
selected the DAO.6 library. If you need the code, let me know with your
email, and I'll send it to you together with the setup of the macro. But let
me know which version of Access your a using.
