I need to find a very good article that defines the steps
that are necessary to set up a user profile that has
extremely limited access to the computer.

If someone knows of a good article or can give me detailed
instructions on how to accomplish this it would be greatly
appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Just had a thought... Is this a GPO issue and if so, some
instructions on which policies to change and where these
are located would be helpfull.

Thanks again

Pete,

Actually the help file is pretty good.
Try this in Index tab, type "permisions" > double click "Users Group". It
has all the various groups.
also "user accounts" good info.

I don't know of a straight forward setup article, but I will send it to you,
if I run across one. I did find one on setting up users on a peer-to-peer
network. migh glance at it.

You probably already know, but 2 administrator accounts with complex
passwords should be setup, before, you have a guest you don't want. If a
hacker has gained access it is probably like shutting the gate after your
favorite heffer is out of the pen. At that point it's easier and better to
do the old Fresh Install, which is really good to do once a year anyway. If
you ever have to do it, making an image copy with Ghost or Drive Image is
really great. And it's best to do it with the current SP I've found, if your
not having any problems, but you can do two. One with the bare bones install
and one with the service pack. You also can d/l a network version of a
Sercice Pack and burn just like StoBought. I get carried away , so don't pay
any attention to all the extra ramblings of what ever you dont need.

sorry,
good computing,

Hi Pete,

The following White Paper describes six different desktop configurations that can be
used to help you create a managed environment. One scenario is named AppStation and
the settings are highly secure. Perhaps it would meet your needs.

For more information see:

Implementing Common Desktop Management Scenarios: IntelliMirror-Scenarios.doc

And if you have any questions specific to Group Policy, you may want to post in the
following newsgroup: win2000.group_policy
