Just wondering after watching my McAffee firewall blink
incessantly for almost 10 minutes...is there a way to
prevent my PC from responding to remote PING commands? I
got about 100 attacks from the same IP address group
(some idiot at Level3.net) and I would like to make them
think my IP address is not even there.
Thanks

If your firewall blocks incoming connections, it will
most likely keep the machine from responding to pings as
well.

However, you can't prevent the ping from coming in, all
you can do is prevent your computer from responding (and
to some extent processing). If you don't have an IP
address, you won't do anything on the Internet. If you
have an IP address, nothing prevents people from randomly
deciding to send something to that IP address.
