Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 with NTFS allow for paths longer than 255
characters. However, the UI doesn't necessarily allow the users to open the
files using standard UI tools like IE or the command line.
I've got some users who are hell-bent on using extremely long and exhaustive
descriptions on their folder names...which puts the character length of many
of their file paths greather than 255 characters. And, this is causing
problems for other users trying to access those files through explorer.
How can I PREVENT them from creating files in folders with paths that exceed
255 characters? Is there a registry setting on the client or the server that
will prevent them from saving files to folders like that in the first place?
Thank you
