I'm having trouble preventing a user who is logged into the Guest account on
my WinXP Pro SP2 machine from running regedit. Enabling "Prevent access to
registry editing tools" with gpedit.msc doesn't seem to do it (it does seem
to prevent other users from running regedit, though). Help, please.

This is why the Guest account is usually disabled for security purposes.
Once someone is in, you've basically given them permission to do
exactly what they want. You don't mention whether this machine is on a
domain or standalone, but I'm going to assume it is not on a domain.
Disable the Guest account and create a new account called whatever you
want, "visitors" for example. Then lock down that account as you like
with gpedit.msc.

Replied in another group. Please don't multipost - if you need to post to
multiple groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a single message
to a handful of relevant groups (separate the NG names with commas) so that
everyone can follow the thread. This makes it easier for everyone, including
you.
