On Win2K Client is there a way to setup to prevent users
from using any space for folder creation other than their
documents area and still allow programs to run correctly?
I have a user that insists on making folders outside from
their my documents area.

In W2K, root/drive folder permissions are too permissive in a default installation. A
user needs write/modify permissions to create a folder. Change root/drive folder
permissions to be no more than read/list/execute for everyone and user and do the
same on any other folder structure they may have created being sure they can are not
the owners in the advanced/ownership page of security permissions. In a default
installation of W2K a regular user can not create folders anywhere other then the
root/drive folder or their profile. You can try to restrict access to their profile
subfolders permissions in the same way if need be also which may times doing such to
the desktop folder is a good idea. --- Steve

Thanks Steven. As I suspected, a permissions thing. I will
dig in and see what I can accomplish.
