Hi All,

We have 100 systems in network, CD Rom drives installed in
all the PCs, we want to prevent users not to copy anything
from CDs into systems for security sake, but they can be
in a position to read the CDs, can anybody help me out in
this regard, how to go about? is there any option in OS
Registry level or any third party software is available to
meet this requirement??

The only thing you can do via the operating system is to manage ntfs permissions on
the computer to where a user can have write access which would be to the root/drive
and their local user profile in a default installation. Generally you want to
restrict access to the root/drive folder to be read/list/execute for users/everyone.
By default a user has full control of their profile folder and need at least write
access if they store their files on the local computer. There are software
applications such as Office Professional 2003 which can use Digital Rights Management
to restrict a user from copying/printing Office files unless they have the proper
permissions. --- Steve
