Preventing accidental slide deletion

I modify a weekly presentation from a template that has content changes on
the same pages on a week to week basis. However, most of the pages are
static. Is there a way to "Lock" the static pages so they wont get
accidentally deleted - like I did this week?

I dont think theres a way of locking just some slides from deletion. What I
sometimes do is have two presentations - the unchanging slides and the
changing slides- Edit the changing slides and then insert them into the main
presentation which is then saved with a new name. That way I know I cant
destroy the main slides.

Hope that makes sense.

I don't believe so, but you can (and probably should) open the original, save
it under a new name and only then start to edit the new version. Worst case,
you delete a slide accidentally, you do Insert, Slides, From File and haul the
missing one in from the original presentation.

Depending on the data you need to modify every week, you might want to look at
http://pptools.com/merge/ for a commercial addin that may be able to automate
everything for you. And that always saves to a new presentation, never touches
the original .... ever so civilized. ;-)
