I'm having a heck of a time trying to find information about and the
location to configure this setting in W2K. I want to revent a couple
of users from running a given program. I am under the impression that
there is an area where I can go into windows and specify that user
John Doe cannot run anyApplication.exe. Is this true? Where is it
configured?

Thanks,

There is a Group Policy setting under user configuration/administrative
templates/system for disallowed Windows applications but be sure to read the
full explaination on the setting as if a user can rename the executable or
use the command prompt they will still be able to run the application. Keep
in mind that if you configure local Group Policy, that it will apply to all
users on the computer including administrator. You also might want to
consider using ntfs permissions to stop a user from running an application.
