Prevent system date change

We had an awful thing happen - someone in admin set the system date ahead a month - then when we went to run labels for the month we got two sets! And all the contacts next print date was set to October! With over 1500 contacts this is going to be a nightmare to sort out. Is there a way to prevent the system date from being changed?

if it was your sys admin who did that, then he should know the repercussions
of what he did.

on the other hand, admins can do anything with any computer as they have
control over it.

one way to make sure that the date and time is always correct is to enable
the synchro of winxp to a time server.

i hope this helps.

For XP Pro, click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC Go to:

Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Security Settings, Local Policies, User Rights Assignment.

In the right pane, double click Change the System Time. Remove the Groups/Users from this list, that you don't want to change the System time and put in the Users/Groups that you do want to be able to.

You can remove all Groups that are listed and put in specific Users.

Do what corporations (and government does).

Assign one computer as a time server. Allow that computer alone to get the time
from a service (such as tick.usno.navy.mil, or time.windows.com). Or, you can
use a GPS to get the time (safer).

Now set your domain controllers to get their time from that one box, and all
other clients get their time from the server. With one system dedicated to just
having the current time, you have less of a failure point.

Corporations use a GPS geoclock to maintain the time, and prevent other network
users from getting the time from anywhere else. That way, logs can be tampered with.
